Our Roots Run Deep
BoardHouse is a family-owned, Los Angeles–based wood manufacturer and installation company. For more than 30 years, we’ve served some of the world’s most discerning designers, builders, architects, and clients. What began as a small passion project in a Manhattan Beach garage has grown into an internationally recognized name in fine wood products.
Founder Michael Dutko discovered his love for woodworking as a teenager, taking on small neighborhood projects that quickly grew into larger commissions. In 1995, he launched Dutko Hardwood Flooring, which expanded rapidly across Los Angeles County. By the early 2000s, Michael set a new industry standard by being the first to import French Oak into the U.S., pioneering the long and wide plank flooring trend. In 2010, this vision evolved into BoardHouse—a recognized U.S. brand dedicated to creating high-end custom wood products that blend artistry with precision.
Today, Michael, his son Justin, and their team at BoardHouse provide an integrated solution for their clients by sourcing, manufacturing, finishing, and installing all under one roof. From the sawmils in Europe to custom inlays in historic New York City Landmarks, every step is guided by care and craftsmanship. Our roots run deep and each project reflects our passion for wood and commitment to excellence.

Mike Dutko
Principle
Michael is the basis of BoardHouse’s artistic and innovative spirit. Ever since a young age, Mike has loved working and creating with wood. This passion led him to begin his career as a high-end finish carpenter in Los Angeles, where he quickly realized the lack of quality wood flooring products and labor. Filling the void in the market, Michael started Dutko Hardwood Floors in 1994, later re-branding to BoardHouse in 2012.
Michael brings years of experience in high-end flooring manufacturing, finishing and installation, assuring that BoardHouse consistently has the most beautiful wood on the marketplace.
Justin Dutko
Sales & Operations
Justin brings both passion and expertise to the BoardHouse team, shaped by years of hands-on experience and a strong foundation in the family business. A graduate of UCSB, he began his career learning every aspect of the trade—from installation and millwork fabrication to project management— making him your go-to expert for high-end wood flooring projects in Los Angeles.
